people on the street can be pretty lame

Toronto, 2004.10.29

Today as I was wandering about the city looking for a place for Charlie and Andrea, I passed a rather dishevelled individual on the sidewalk. He'd been puttering along at a medium-to-slow walk, as if he had a destination in mind but no deadline.

As I drew alongside him, he suddenly burst forward, nearly running in his funny gait. He motored ahead of me while I shuddered with that feeling of oh-no-I-almost-got-crazy-on-me.

But then his normal semi-saunter began again, and I caught up with him in no time. And once again he panicked and started to trot ahead of me. But this time he kept it up, and he pulled ahead of me (by now I was walking much slower than usual). It wasn't until I got to the end of the street that I spotted him standing in a the parking lot of a small building, staring at the building warily.
