the ravine

Toronto, 2005.06.20

Last week the ravine trail that is the most amazing part of my morning cycle commute was blocked off. I figured it was because of the torrential rain we'd had in a extended series of sustained thunderstorms and weather fronts.

But it turns out they were cleaning up from the wind damage. No fewer than three large trees had fallen across the path, including one monster that seemed to have had its roots washed out in the flood from the creek itself.

Also, they built a new fence to keep people away from the pond alongside the trail, though I don't know why.

Cycling through the ravine this week will mean dodging debris from the fence construction, and dodging large chunks of tree trunk. W'hoo!
