At the office, the queues at the elevators are often a hundred people deep in the mornings.

On arrival I discovered that one of the all-too-few elevators was out of commission and had been roped off. But as I stood there waiting, the roped-off elevator door quietly opened. The elevator itself had been darkened, and the only thing inside was a small stepladder. As I watched, the doors closed again.

I suppose the stepladder had somewhere to be.
