There are these insects in Japan that the locals call semi. They're like cicadas, but instead of making a long sibilant crcrcrcrcrcrcrcrcrcr sound they make a bizarre waaaah waahhhh wahhhhhh waaaahhhhhhhh waaaaaaahhhhhhhh wahhhhh wahhh wahh cry.

Anyway, I often remember them as an August bug, but here we go!
