Welcome to Winter

Nichinan, Miyazaki, 2008.12.21

Well it's Winter again. My 38th on God's green Earth, and my son's second. I've always liked Winter, and I have to say that Tokyo's Winters are just about right for me. Cool (hovering around 5 degrees), brief (only two-three months long) and for the most part sunny. A welcome change of pace from the Winters I lived through in Canada, of course (especially Vancouver's, just too gloomy). And even preferable I think to the extended Springtime of Sydney which if anything was like an air conditioned hotel lobby—a bit too perfect. Winter should have some teeth, after all.
