sleeploss
Kenny had a fever all weekend, so naturally none of us has been sleeping properly. And by that I mean sleeping at all. Yesterday I finally realized that it had gone too far.
First, I completely blanked on a lunch date that I had with a friend my days in investment banking. I had to scramble to meet him when he called to ask where I was. How embarrassing. Then when I went to get the bike to pick up Kenny at the daycare, I noticed that his seat wasn't on the bike. I said to myself, "Oh, I guess I didn't drop off Kenny at the daycare this morning. Someone else must have done it. Because I certainly haven't been using my bicycle today."
But on my way to the daycare, I realized that in fact I had dropped Kenny off that morning, and in fact only four hours previously I had used my bike to go meet my ex-colleague. My memory problems were so bad that I had not only missed an important lunch but later could not remember how I went to that lunch!
At dinner, Mari asked me about something that had happened in the morning. I had no inkling what she was talking about, and she seemed surprised. I just hadn't formed any memories of the event, I suppose. By the time I'm writing this, I can't even remember what it was that she'd been asking me.
I do know that I fell asleep in my clothes while trying to tend to Kenny as he fussed in his bed at around 21:00 last night, and despite the usual 4-5 interruptions slept through 'til 06:00 this morning. A few (hundred) more nights like that and I should be once again at least retaining memories of events.
