my dinner with Brian
I had dinner with a friend last night. We'd worked together in 2007-2008 at the original imoney.com.
Neither of us could remember the last time we'd met, but we'd recently worked together on the Caritas project, when he volunteered his assistance in the overall look and feel of the site. We had help from a few such old friends, and I was happy to treat him to a really good dinner at "Nota Benne" (sp?) on Queen Street as a way of saying thanks.
We caught up on the many years that have passed, and he told a story that seemed familiar. The IT industry is a weird and difficult way to make a living, all too prone to failed projects, cancelled contracts, imploding employers, and generally speaking bad vibes.
On a brighter note, I've racked up a referral to the Canadian affiliate program on Amazon, and have a $2 credit toward my Kindle. The banner ads at the top of this site direct you to amazon.ca if you're in Canada, and amazon.com if you're anywhere else.
