as seen on TV

Miyazaki, 2010.12.28

Much to my surprise, I was stopped by a TV "news" crew on the streets on Miyazaki today. The resulting interview aired!

I was asked about our plans for the new year. Stammering through our situation in my limited and poorly-pronounced Japanese, I explained that we were in the middle of moving to Canada where we would make a new life.

They then asked me to say something specific in Japanese, an expression I didn't know. I believe they said, "ハッピなお年にしたいです。" Which means, I think, "I want a happy new year." I repeated it.
