this place is cursed!

On the way to the photo lab today, I noticed a woman coming toward me stoop to pick up something.
It was a mitt dropped by another woman, who was walking ahead of me. The first woman turned from her crouch to pursue the second, but then in turn dropped her phone.
Bending to pick up the phone for her (I was beaten to it by a younger fellow), I told her, "It's like a vicious cycle."
"Yeah," she said, "This place is cursed!" she said dramatically.
I like being back in Toronto.
