saw my first raccoon on the street

Toronto, 2011.03.16

It seems so trivial with the things going on in our household and in the world, but I saw my first raccoon since being back.

It was around nine o'clock, as I came back from work. The raccoon was washing its hands in a puddle a few doors down from us as I crossed. When I came near, it quietly waddled away and coyly watched me from behind a tree with his nose tucked low. As soon as it could see that I was harmlessly passing, it went back to its work.
