once more unto the breach, dear friends

Toronto, 2011.06.23

Late this afternoon I got word from our auditor. Our audit begins Monday.

I've long since lost count of the audits I've participated in since my first back in 1997. At a bank I worked for in Japan it seemed to be a perpetual state. A lot has changed in the past fourteen years, and IT audit has changed focus from technical to process. But like that first audit, this one is much more involving because I'm doing it at a very small firm where I'm running the project and creating several new processes from whole cloth.

For the past five months I've worked on little else. All of that preparation is now over with, the direction and momentum are set, and there's nothing left but to let it happen.

Going to start sleeping better, I reckon.

Respect your efforts, respect yourself. Self-respect leads to self-discipline. When you have both firmly under your belt, that's real power.
