résumé for michael werneburg

by m. werneburg, 2010.01.21

I am an energetic and organized project specialist with 17 years’ experience in IT process implementation, management consulting projects, and systems problem solving. I am currently looking for permanent employment in Toronto.

In deciding which roles to pursue, I choose a challenging environment within which I can make a difference. I agree with Studs Terkel, who said, "Work is about a search for daily meaning as well as daily bread, for recognition as well as cash, for astonishment rather than torpor; in short, for a sort of life rather than a Monday through Friday sort of dying."

A pencil-sketch of what it's like to work with me can be seen in my guiding principles:

  • focus on projects that add value; if you're not adding value in everything you do .. why are you working?
  • think like the client when making decisions; treat the end client the way you'd want to be treated
  • "think like the CIO" when communicating with colleagues; be a problem solver, not someone who makes problems for the boss to fix
  • acknowledge that everything hinges upon reputation; do what you say, and support the people around you
  • treat each job like it's the most important you've had: provide nothing but the best no matter the task at hand

I've spent seventeen years working in the field of information technology, mostly in the financial industry. I am now looking for permanent employment in Toronto.

Here's my resume.
