These designs are based in part on the triskel images above, and in part on a knot design that I based - with permission - on a design by "Celtic"-style artist Aidan Meehan. Meehan is the author of the Celtic Design series published by Thames and Hudson - the design on which this design is based comes from Celtic Design: Knotwork, the second volume in the eight book series.
I'm Canadian, and I'm trying to figure out a tattoo design based on our nation's rather excellent flag. I've posted my tinkerings here for your enjoyment.
These are all tattoos based on the triskel images I saw at Newgrange in Ireland. They are three-way spiral shapes. I used the "golden mean" to set the dimensions. The knot designs in the next section were based on some of the same pieces.
Despite being wholly irreligious, rational and a fan of reason, I am also attuned to patterns, and one of the patterns that I've noticed is that the core generalizations about some of the zodiac signs have something to them. I find myself, for instance, surrounded by Scorpios, and find that they live up to their reputation. Anyway, I've made some tattoo designs, mostly Piscean.
