The name "senior" kindergarten seems mildly ludicrous when you think about it, but Ken's first day was a success. This year he has some new classmates, including another half-Japanese kid who speaks the language; she's the first cousin of a little girl in the neighbourhood that Ken already knows—it turns out that two Canadian brothers both met and married Japanese women. Among Ken's accomplishments on his first day; he ate the whole lunch that Mari sent with him. I don't know if he's ever eaten a complete meal before. A happy spill-over of my son's starting full-time school: I also had a packed lunch today. Mmmm, food made with love.
