As a nominee for a position on the board of directors for Cycle Toronto, here's my 'candidate profile'.
Why do you want to join the Cycle Toronto Board of Directors? My wife was clipped by a car, while riding on Kingston Rd with our son in a baby seat. I joined Cycle Toronto in Ward 32 to do something about it: canvassing shops and homes, gathering signatures, and fixing bikes. I’d now like to help at the city level.
Bio As a lifelong cyclist, I didn’t own a car until I was 43. I have been a daily cycle commuter since 2004, in Toronto and abroad. As the father of two small children, I’ve come to learn that different groups of cyclists experience different levels of safety in this city.
What skills/experience do you bring to the Board? I’m an executive at a growing software firm where for the past five years I’ve managed the firm’s risk, compliance, and IT governance. I’ve also raised nearly half a million dollars in innovation grants and credits.
I currently sit on the board of a non-profit in the information risk space.
