happy birthday, Canada

Toronto, 2017.07.01

We went down to the beach and watched the fireworks firing from a barge. Earlier, we'd been to a small welcome celebration for five school children from Japan who are here on an exchange organized by a friend of Mari's. The event was held in a dance studio in Etobicoke, as is the traditional form of celebrating Canada Day. And before that, The Boy and I went fishing at Bluffer's Park - a two hour jaunt only in the hours before they charged for parking at that park. The water level is still too high, though - the water's cloudy and there was nothing biting. We got back in time to make the family breakfast.

Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn't go away.
