goodbye, 2017, you wretch

Toronto, 2017.12.30

A friend died, I lost my job, the fishing was relentlessly terrible, and I spent half the time scrambling. Meanwhile, the global political situation started getting surreal and worrisome, and I had some rather stupid financial losses (poor investments, possessions destroyed). And then there was the health situation: I've never had as many sinus infections or migraines (even a two-week one in December), and my back started flaring up again.

But on the other hand, The Boy's already at a level with tennis where he's entertaining to watch, and The Girl is getting somewhere with her piano lessons. Mari's progressing with her forex training, and I paid the bills.

Maybe 2018 will be more memorable.

(In which I leave the final word to someone else.)

I like my buddies from west Texas. I liked them when I was young, I liked them when I was middle-age, I liked them before I was president, and I like them during president, and I like them after president.

-George W. Bush
